Ahead of next month’s 2024 IMSA Esports Global Championship, pre-qualifiers for the four-race esports tournament are now open in iRacing.
Running until 28th October at 23:59 GMT / UTC, the pre-qualifiers see iRacing drivers and teams who register for the competition attempt to set the fastest lap at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course in the GTP and GTD classes.
Qualifier events for each class can be found in iRacing’s ‘Time Attack’ section, with each event allowing open setups. The servers are set to ‘Severe Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny’, and drivers and teams can post multiple lap times across both classes to enter.
Those who successfully qualify will enter the next round, the Car Shootout, held on 2nd and 3rd November, where the full championship lineup will be decided.
Each multi-class championship race will feature GTP and GTD class cars battling it out on track. Several esports teams from last year’s competition have already reserved entries for this year’s championship.
Coanda Esports, Team Redline, and Williams Esports will race in the GTP class, while Apex Racing Team, Drago Racing, Team Redline, Team Redline will represent the GTD category. Another 12 entries from the pre-qualifying round are available in the GTP class, with 28 team entries in the GTD class.
A $25,000 prize pool is up for grabs, with $12,500 split across the top 10 drivers in the GTP and GTD categories respectively.
