Now Asetek SimSports’ range of sim racing wheel bases, steering wheels and accessories is firmly established, it is time to expand the available options.
Today, two new grips are now available for some of its existing wheels alongside further customisation options.
Supreme handling
Affixing to either side, the LMP handles are designed to turn the existing formula-style wheel into something more akin to a sportscar or prototype. Unlike the standard layout, these add-ons effectively close the bottom of the design.
The Formula LMP Handles set is available now for €69.99 before VAT.
Keeping the original layout, but changing the material in use, there is now a suede version of the formula handles. This is in lieu of the silicone rubber fitted as standard up until now.
The Formula Regular Handles with Suede set is available now for €99.99 before VAT.
Both the new LMP handles and the suede handles are compatible with Asetek’s La Prima Formula Steering Wheel and the Forte Formula Steering Wheel.
Additionally, the Danish sim equipment manufacturer is set to change the way a new formula wheel is ordered, allowing shoppers to select their preferred grip design as part of the initial bundle.
The latest handles will be compatible with its expected range-topping Invicta Formula Steering Wheel, more on that below.
Colour options
Further customisation of all existing Asetek formula wheels and button boxes is now possible too, with an optional €29.99 (before tax) colour kit.
This includes seven different colours of buttons to switch out the included shades, alongside two hues of quick release latches and three tones for the handle cushions – the elements that sit in between the wheel centre and handles.
Before “the end of the summer”, according to the liquid cooling giants, the standard orange colour accents will be removed from its wheels, to be replaced by a black and grey combination. This was previewed recently (above) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans event.
Quick release and extension updates
The Asetek quick release has been somewhat of a linchpin for the brand, allowing for easy removal and affixation of wheels to a wheel base, without the need for a dangling USB cable or Bluetooth-like connection.
Some range additions have been announced, alongside the existing Invicta unit. A La Prima variant is on the way, identical save the removal of on-board electronics and a €40 price reduction.
For those with an Asetek steering wheel, but a different brand of wheel base, there a USB-powered adapter is on the way.
Finally, a CNC-milled 160mm extension for those with a full Asetek wheel base, quick release and wheel set-up. A front mount for attaching an Asetek wheel base to a podium-supported rig is also on the way.
Invicta is Asetek’s sub-brand for its premium devices – think its debut hydraulic pedal set. To date, however, there is not an Invicta steering wheel.
That is set to change soon and a first glimpse has been provided by a social media post and a product update video.
You can spot a mysterious device, or two, sat on a shelf in the rear of the shot, which includes an in-built screen – something not available in Asetek’s lineup currently, with CEO André Eriksen confirming the new device is hidden within the promotional material.
A full reveal is expected later this year.
