We at Traxion.GG have been lucky enough to receive a sneak peek at EA Codemasters’ upcoming F1 22 game. And with the inaugural Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix set to take place this weekend (8th May 2022), we thought it would be the ideal opportunity to send our very own John Munro out in a pastel-coloured Nomex suit to find out what it’s like to drive on the streets of Miami.
With zero laps on the new track, this season’s F1 drivers will have been hard at work on their team simulators, driving a rough and ready version of the Miami GP layout in order to familiarise themselves ahead of Free Practise on Friday.
Fortunately, EA Codemasters has done all the hard work for us, meaning John can immediately get on the pace and start forming an impression on the kind of racing we can expect to see on Sunday.
After a brief introduction and sighting lap, John picks out parts of the track that should provide overtaking opportunities – as well as the meme-tastic fake marina. Equal parts impressed and frustrated by the slow, technical sections of the new track, John finishes by entering into ‘esports mode’ to set a hot lap.
The track heavily features fast and twisty bends, enveloped by concrete walls – evoking strong Jeddah Corniche Circuit comparisons, but with the abundance of grandstands trackside, it’s clear to see this is a Grand Prix set to please the rising number of F1 fans in the USA.
Let’s hope they are treated to another epic Grand Prix.
