The final of the Sim Formula Europe event in Maastricht, the Netherlands, eschewed the use of its traditional rFactor 2 platform for the embryonic The Last Garage today, 18th January 2025.

It witnessed the public use of the upcoming sim racing game by Marcel Offermans, the former Managing Director of Studio 397 and rFactor 2, in a competitive environment for the first time and debuted new content.

Previously playable for the first time at the same event last year, this time a licenced BAC Mono single-seater, but road going, sports car was in use.

Competitors, who were vying for a share in a €10,500 prize pool, and to do so, raced against each other around Anglesey Circuit.

The coastal venue, known as Trac Môn in Welsh, is an idyllic circuit. While major British championships do not visit the track, it’s used extensively for single-venue rallies, club racing and television production.

It follows on from the abandoned Bridgehampton circuit, which was used to demo the title 12 months ago. A classic touring car and brutally quick retro open-wheeler have also been seen in the project – but today’s unveiling marks the first seemingly licenced content.

We expect to hear more from Offermans over the coming days for a status update.
