American gaming hardware manufacturer Turtle Beach has revealed its new VelocityOne Multi-Shift shifter, which is available to pre-order now.
The Multi-Shift features both H-pattern and sequential modes, with seven forward gears and one reverse, with a high and low-range switcher pushing the forward numbers to 14.
The Multi-Shift employs hall effect technology for its gear change action, with short and long throw shafts and two different shifter knobs packaged. It can also be used as an analogue handbrake, while switching between H-pattern and sequential shifting can be done on the fly.
The Multi-Shift is compatible with Xbox consoles when connected to Turtle Beach’s VelocityOne Race wheelbase, while PC compatibility arrives via USB. The shifter can be bolted directly to a sim cockpit or can be attached to a desk thanks to the built-in table clamp.

Turtle Beach VelocityOne Multi-Shift release date and price
The Turtle Beach VelocityOne Multi-Shift can be pre-ordered ahead of its 28th February release date via the Turtle Beach website or selected retailers, costing £119.99 / $129.99 / €129.99.
The chunky Multi-Shift is finished in generic black plastic, features a faux-carbon fibre inlay and is comparable to Thrustmaster’s 90% metal-construction TH8A Shifter Add-On in terms of features.

However, the more budget-friendly (£59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99) Thrustmaster TH8S offers similar levels of functionality at a much lower price point and is compatible with PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
It’s hard to say how the Turtle Beach unit performs without a comprehensive review, but at double the price of a TH8S it feels like the Multi-Shifter has a tough task in ousting Thrustmaster from its budget shifter throne.

I have one arriving tomorrow. I currently use a TH8A with a short shift kt installed and want to see if this is an upgrade. I’ve never felt comfortable with it and mis-shift often. I had the Velocity One wheel but returned it. In fact, was a big upgrade over my G920, but it still felt like a toy. I’ve been very satisfied with my Turtle Beach Velocity One Rudder Pedals and hope the Mulit-Shift meets or exceeds that standard of quality and functionality.
Interesting – how did you find it?
