Trackmania is finally coming to consoles this Monday, 15th May

Ubisoft announced on Thursday that their popular arcade racing title Trackmania will be releasing on consoles. The date is 15th May, that’s this Monday, after this weekend, and, on top of all of that, the game is free-to-play at it’s base level.

Already on PC since 2020, Trackmania will now be available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and the Amazon Luna cloud gaming service.

Trackmania is one of the most popular racing game titles already out there despite only existing on PC for the time being. It was one of the most watched sports stream categories on Twitch in the last few years.

“Experience the thrills of racing and the joy of creation” is their tagline, and surely, Trackmania is one of those racing games with endless possibilities.

FREE TO PLAY, OR…

The tiered access that the PC edition of Trackmania has will likely be the same when accessing the title on your respective console. As mentioned before, anyone can play for free. The Starter Edition costs nothing and allows anyone to race with the regular content.

For a yearly subscription of $9.99, prospective Trackmania players can get Standard Edition access, which includes “creation and competition”. Clubs are accessible to join at this level, as is track creation.

For $29.99 a year or $59.99 for three years, players can get even more with a Club Access pass, including the ability to make your own clubs, activities, and even customize your skin.

Players will need to link their Ubisoft account to play, as they do on the PC. It’s one of those finesse games, where every input matters to getting the best times on each track. When Hot Wheels Unleashed came out a few years ago, it kind of reminded me of how Trackmania looked, although it definitely didn’t play the same.

Trackmania in any form can be truly addictive, and at times, frustrating. Time to get back into it now that I can get it on my home console though, I suppose…
