The first gameplay trailer for upcoming indie top-down racer GeneRally 2 has been revealed, and with it, a release window.

Developer Curious Chicken Games’ blog sprung into life late last year, followed by a Steam store listing on PC in November.

Published on the 30th December, the footage showcases the oversized tyres, retro visuals and flexible track editor.

A sequel to the 2022 original, the focus is on fostering a community of racers, both with online multiplayer and the ability to create and share track designs.

Several new tools have been added to the Track editor, such as a spray brush to help smooth over surface change transitions, a surface mask that can be used to create kerbs and an outline option.

The size of the height map has grown from 64×64 pixels to 256×256 pixels when compared to the original.
