Thrustmaster’s highly-rated T598 wheelbase caused something of a sensation when it was released late last year. Bundled with pedals and a steering wheel, the wheelbase offered direct drive-style feedback in a package costing less than £450.
Its value was unquestionable in comparison to some of its competitors but many sim racers complained that the wheelbase wasn’t available as a separate unit.

However, today (3rd April 2025), the US hardware giant has announced the T598 can be purchased as a standalone product minus pedals and a steering wheel, costing $399.99.
With 5 Nm of constant torque, rising to 10 Nm of peak force, the T598 was seen as the ideal entry point for sim racers looking for direct drive force feedback on a budget.
The firm’s Raceline Pedals III are also available separately for the first time. More importantly, the two-pedal set can be purchased with an additional clutch pedal for $149.99. The pedals can then be upgraded with a load cell brake thanks to the Raceline Pedals Upgrade Kit (cost TBD).
