In our humble opinion, Gran Turismo’s World Series’ LAN events are at the very pinnacle of in-person esports events. The slick presentation, the competitive racing, friendly drivers and vibrant atmosphere. It’s all there.
Now, the public has the chance of experiencing that if you can travel to, or live in, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The World Series Showdown 2023 will pit existing virtual competitors on the Gran Turismo scene against the world’s quickest in-game qualifiers to then contribute towards the World Finals line-up later in the year.
Last year, the Showdown was held in Austria but moves to the new Dutch venue of Theater Amsterdam this year.
The event will encapsulate the Manufacturers Cup and, with a new format, Nations Cup competitions on 11th and 12th August respectively. One day before, the 10th, at the Pathé Tuschinski Theater, a screening of the Gran Turismo Movie will take place alongside a Q&A session with series lead Gran Turismo Kazunori Yamauchi.
Platinum tickets are €90, while individual day tickets become available on 19th June for €15 or €40 for a gold ticket which includes access to both days, a t-shirt and the ability to watch the latest performance by Sony AI’s agent GT Sophy.
Last season, debutant Kylian Drumont shocked to win the Nations Cup event, and then won again as part of the Subaru team the next day.
