The new Thrustmaster T248 is expected to arrive on 21st October 2021. As we get closer to launch day, we continue to learn more about the more-budget-friendly hybrid drive wheel.

In the top-center of the new handheld, the rim features a built-in digital display. This particular screen can cycle through 20 different information screens. It isn’t as fancy as the SF1000, but it is still more than some competitors have. Engine rpm, speed, number of laps, position or best time are some of the items that may be displayed.

The display isn’t universal, however. Only certain games will have compatibility at launch. The wheel could work for all racing games in general usage, but that doesn’t guarantee the display will light up correctly. Sorry to those NASCAR Racing 2003 Series fans still out there.

There was a mention of a few games being added alongside the commercial launch, which means anyone with an early set won’t have the functionality just yet. As newer games are launched, compatibility will hopefully be updated over time.

Strange enough, as it is a PlayStation branded and buttoned device, Gran Turismo Sport is not listed as compatible. We’ll check in with the Traxion Towers to see if it is and it was just forgotten about.

EDIT: We checked in and found out that at this time, the display does NOT work with Gran Turismo Sport when plugged into a PlayStation 5.

EDIT 2: Thankfully, on 4th March when GT7 was released, it was announced that it would work just fine on that.

As always, keep it pinned here at Traxion.GG.
