Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown formally delayed until early 2024

Following inclusion in a financial report, Nacon’s latest Connect stream officially announced the delay.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown formally delayed until early 2024

The recent Nacon Connect feature presentation for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown finally gave racing game fans a peak at gameplay footage of the promising open-world driving title.

So, that’s the good news out of the way.

The bad news, unfortunately, is that the game’s release will definitely be delayed until at least the beginning of 2024. Nacon’s 2022/23 financial reports (on page 80, business fans) pointed to this scenario last week (w/c 3rd of July 2023), but an official announcement during the Connect stream has confirmed it.

“…And I hope to see you there early 2024,” said host Vivian to end the presentation.

Publisher Nacon was unable to comment when asked by Traxion.GG for specific delay reasons. No form date, or month, has been provided.

It’s an unfortunate situation given the troubled history of the newest Test Drive game, with Solar Crown facing several delays throughout its development.

The first details – plus the name Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown (TDUSC) – were unveiled in a Nacon Connect stream way back in 2020, with a new CGI trailer following in April 2021.

A September 2022 release date was set soon afterwards, which soon slipped to 2023 with developer KT Racing revealing the game would be exclusively made for next-gen consoles (and PC), ditching the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions completely.

In the last year – as well as TDUSC delays – KT Racing’s guardianship of the WRC license ended after it released WRC Generations, while the development of TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 was passed over to RaceWard Studio, in theory providing more reduces to push Solar Crown over the line. Fans will at least get to play a limited closed beta, starting later this month.
