SpongeBob season begins on Hot Wheels Unleashed

A new season is available for Hot Wheels Unleashed today featuring characters and content from Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants.

The SpongeBob season officially lasts from 20th January to 29th March 2022 and includes a number of free and premium items to unlock through additional new challenges. The DLC is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam store pages for $5.99 / £4.99.

Similar to the previous Super-Villains Racing Season that just ended on 18th January, anyone can unlock the free content, which includes the SpongeBob character Plankton in the form of a Hot Wheels diecast. The premium content, which will need to be paid for, includes the other five character cars plus Basement and Unleashed Profile elements. Those characters are SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs and Squidward.

Per the Hot Wheels Unleashed website, this particular racing season is not included in the current Hot Wheels passes. At this time, it will be its own separate DLC. Only the Volume 1 pass is available, and Volume 2 isn’t slated to start until February of 2022, so it likely won’t be in that pass either. If that changes, we’ll let you know.
