Nintendo Switch 2 players had to wait a few extra months to play a native version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. While the Switch 2 Edition launched digitally last December, following the September release on other platforms, the physical Switch 2 release was pushed back to early 2026.
Now, Sega has confirmed that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will get a long-awaited physical Switch 2 release on 26th March, 2026.
Priced at £64.99/$69.99, the physical version includes the base game but does not contain the season pass included with the Digital Deluxe edition.

Alternatively, those who already have the original Switch game can upgrade to the standard digital Switch 2 version for £10.00/$10.00.
Unlike many third-party titles, the physical version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will ship on a game cartridge rather than a game-key card that requires an internet connection to download the game.
Compared to the original Switch game, the Switch 2 Edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a noticeable step up, offering a higher resolution and a frame rate boost to 60fps.
From today (13th January), players can also download the Blue Star Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders for free on all platforms. It was previously an exclusive bonus for a limited time for those who registered a Sega account.
Since launch, the season pass has added numerous characters and locations from crossover IPs in paid DLC, with Pac-Man joining the roster last week.
With its chaotic racing, warping Travel Rings and in-depth vehicle customisation, it’s one of the best Switch 2 racing games currently available, making it a formidable rival to Mario Kart World.
