Forget access code drops. Rennsport is about to enter an open beta.
For those on PC with access to the Epic Games Store (Rennsport uses Unreal Engine technology, naturally), the floodgates open on 10th July 2024.
Under the stewardship of the Competition Company GmbH and CEO Morris Hebecker, the embryonic platform was first unveiled way back in 2022. Since then, it has been used by the ESL R1 sim racing competition for two years, with the Esports World Cup finale this season later this month.
However, outwardly at least, progress at times has been glacial. New content and features so far in 2024 have been arriving with a swifter cadence, however.
Night racing (albeit initially not at all venues), Fuji Speedway, multi-class single-player racing and two LMDh cars have all arrived in recent months.
A roadmap has also been published, with GT4 cars, McLarens, fresh ranking systems and further endurance-racing-focused features expected this year. The Nürburgring Nordschleife appears to be teased in the platform’s recent trailer.
Release dates and pricing structures for the final, ‘version 1.0’, for the driving title are still unknown.
