Redout 2’s Switch version ‘needs more polish time’, will now release in July

There’s been another delay for the anticipated futuristic racer Redout 2, but thankfully not for all versions of the game. The PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One editions are all still slated to release on Thursday 16th June. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch players will need to wait a little while longer.

In a tweet from the official Redout 2 game account on Twitter, all systems are go for a Thursday launch for most of the systems. Unfortunately, the Switch edition has been pushed back to July with no specific date given. This is following a previous delay we reported on back on 20th May, as the game was set to launch initially on 26th May.

While delays are not too uncommon in the gaming world, at least 34BigThings and Saber Interactive have been quite up front with the process to get this game released to the masses. Most fans looking to get their hands on the title will still be able to do so on Thursday.

The Nintendo Switch is probably the most different of all the consoles when it comes to programming and coding. That’s a mild guess, as I am no developer. There’s likely some extra TLC needed to make it flow smoothly on the partially-portable system, though, and for that I can respect any company that delays a product to make sure its done right.

Look out for the game to drop on PC via Steam, PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S later this week. Nintendo Switch fans, we’ll see you in July!
