RaceRoom adds twisting real-world Malaysian hillclimb, alongside drift and 1v1 content

There’s a new hillclimb available for RaceRoom Racing Experience, as the simulation driving platform continues to explore new areas.

Following classic DTM and Super Touring content comes… Genting Highlands, a real-world road in Malaysia, is popular with touge-style driving and tuned car enthusiasts.

Designed with time attack in mind, in theory, RaceRoom has informed Traxion that online events can happen on this new venue with up to 10 cars – the top five can then race back down the twisting, concrete-and-tree-lined, route while the bottom five are eliminated.

As it’s a road, there are two lanes most of the way up (or down), separated by a barrier, and having briefly tested it, there are certain areas that allow for lane switching or short alternative sections.

The full 12.6km dual-lane layout is possible,  culminating after 1000m of elevation. Alternatively, you can just drive up to the top in a single lane, or just the top half in a short layout. Finally, a full up-and-down option, with a loop back around at the top, is included.

Drift content finally released

Traxion went hands-on with RaceRoom’s dirft specific content, that has been refined over two years, at the 2024 ADAC SimRacing Expo.

We were impressed by its natualisitc physics and steep learning curve.

Now, a gymkhana-style drift area has been added to the existing free RaceRoom Raceway location, with cones and obstacles to freestyle within.

To go alongside this, two licenced drift machines are available:

• BMW M3 E30 – Red Bull Driftbrothers
• BMW M4 G82 – Red Bull Driftbrothers

Both are extremely tuned, and drift-specificly setup, cars, developed with feedback from the actual drivers.

Twin Forest and Macau

As teased early, another track that Traxion has briefly tried already is a 1v1 ‘Race of Champions’ style venue – Twin Forest.

The 51.km track features two lanes, that cross over. Each car starts in its own lane, but ultimately each route will be the same length eventually.

This should be ideal for knockout multiplayer events, and is designed in a way similar to a contemporary race circuit – but with a side-by-side layout.

Twin Forest, the Driftbrothers cars, the drift area and the Genting Highlands hillclimb sit alongside 42 official liveries frome the Porsche Carrera Cup North America championship and a free update to the Macau Guia circuit’s surroundings.

For that latter item, new trackside banners, trees signs and entire buildings have been added to the tricky street circuit.

All content is available from Wednesday 26th February 2025, and marks the start of what should be an intriguing year for the more-than-a-decade-old sim racing title. Pricing will be unveiled at the time of launch.
