In an exciting move, Ubisoft Ivory Tower has added the acclaimed Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion, to The Crew 2 – and it’s available now.

The homologation special, which was produced so that Porsche was allowed to compete in the BPR Global GT Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, holds a special place in the heart of fellow Traxion member John Munro as one of his all-time favourites.

The 911 GT1 was unique at the time as it was technically mid-engine, and therefore the first 911 with the engine not hanging over the rear wheels. ‘Strassenversion’ translates from German as ‘street version’.

Upon booting The Crew 2, the car appears in the Catalog area and you can take it for a brief test drive. It costs 839,999 in-game credits which are accrued by playing the game or 119,999 Crew Credits, which can be purchased with your real, hard-earned, cash. Currently, a pack of 100,000 CC costs £7.99/$9.99, while 220,000 CC costs £15.99/$19.99.

The car has just ’arrived’ in the game, with a brief teaser two days ago, and then appearing in-game on 3rd February 2021. The Porsche-themed reveal trailer states: “Some are unforgettable, some are untameable, some are unbeatable, some are unmissable, but only one is unexpected.”

The Crew 2 seems to be undergoing a mini resurgence of late, with the MOTORPASS currently going through The Hunt scenario, and support confirmed throughout 2021. This latest addition will certainly help the momentum, and who knows, maybe we’ll see more surprise additions soon.
