Polestar 5 super-saloon comes to Gran Turismo 7

In the December Spec II update, Gran Turismo 7 players will be able to drive the Polestar 5 – a Time Trial competition will allow a lucky fan to win a trip to the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals in Japan.

Another electric super-saloon is to be added to Gran Turismo 7. Following the confirmation of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra earlier this year, which is yet to have an in-game release date, the Polestar 5 is also on the way.

However, this time we know it will be part of December 2025’s Spec III update.

The sleek performance vehicle, like many premium BEVs, has ludicrous power and torque figures – 884 hp and 749 lb-ft thanks to twin electric motors, an all-new bespoke platform and rapid 250 kW peak charging rates.

The Swedish-Chinese collaboration, initially a performance-focused offshoot of Volvo, claims 0-62 mph in a scant 3.2 seconds.

It will join the brutal Renault Espace F1, fictional F3500-B open-wheeler and others for a total of eight new cars in the Spec III update. Arriving next month, two tracks and several quality-of-life improvements are also expected.

Win a trip to the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals

To coincide with the Polestar 5 addition in the Spec III update, a specific in-game Gran Turismo 7 time trial competition will open.

The quickest time on the leaderboard will win a trip to the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals in Japan later this year.

“In December, we are going to be releasing the Spec III version of Gran Turismo 7, and at the same time as that release, we’re also going to be hosting a time trial event with the Polestar car,” said Gran Turismo Series Producer Kazunori Yamauchi on stage in Los Angeles.

“The winner of that time trial competition, whoever gets first place, is going to be invited to the Gran Turismo World Series World Final, which is happening in Fukuoka, Japan.”

At the same time, during the Round 3 Manufacturers Cup broadcast, a trailer with the Poelstar 5 was showcased, hinting that the track used for the competition will be Brands Hatch Grand Prix.

While no definitive release date has been announced for Spec III, the World Final takes place between 20th and 21st December 2025, pegging it earlier in the month to provide enough time to complete the time trial competition.
