Following Euro Truck Simulator 2’s West Balkans DLC announcement back in June, SCS Software has revealed few details on its latest European map expansion.
However, last week (23rd September 2022) the Czech developer unveiled a whole host of new additions to the sim, including some never-seen-before industries and areas to Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2).
The West Balkans DLC will allow virtual truckers to visit Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia, and its location next to the coast will ensure plenty of delivery opportunities.
With 1,200 islands located in the Adriatic Sea alone, that’s a lot of port-to-port drop-offs to contend with, and ETS2’s new marine logistics terminal is equipped for the task. In a similar mould, the River Danube – the second longest river in Europe – flows through the region and sees SCS bring river ports to the game, helping simulate waterway trade links.
In a first for ETS2, oil fields have been added to the game, giving ETS2 players a chance to use their specialised cistern trailers. The region surprisingly has an abundance of oil reserves but also features region-specific Bauxite sedimentary rock, which is high in aluminium deposits.
This necessitated the construction of a specialised Bauxite terminal in-game, which also feeds a new light metal factory with interconnected aluminium foundry.
The automotive industry also sees some love, with a car parts factory in the West Balkans DLC. There’s also a caravan factory set to arrive with the new map update. One wonders what Clarkson, Hammond and May would think if they saw this on their next Grand Tour adventure?
