A new Forza Horizon 5 update is out now for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and it addresses several online gameplay issues.
A brilliant open-world racing game with a vast range of modes, options and tasks to complete, since launch, it has been home for over 10 million players. But along the way, post-release, several quirks have come to the forefront.
Perhaps the most notable change in the version December 2021 update is to Forza Arcade. These group online challenges have proven to be a tad more difficult than anticipated, so the score now scales directly in proportion to the number of players in the event. In theory, if only a handful of people are taking part, the drift score target shouldn’t be 49 billion.
Secondly, The Goliath racing event – which covers the entire map in one giant loop – has been removed from Horizon Open online racing. If it came up as one of the events, this clearly takes longer to complete than most races and if you finished ahead of your rivals, the game put you in a sometimes-lengthy waiting room.

A long list of Accolades has also been amended, crucial if you’re competing for higher positions on the Hall of Fame leaderboards. If some were not completing for you, now is the time to jump back and try them again. The Super7 mode has also received several refinements
The list of fixes is long, so we recommend that you have a look below to see if something that you were looking forward to has been updated, such as button prompts now appearing for those using a Logitech G920 or a change of colour for the front left brake calliper for the 2018 BMW M5. Yes, really.
The Microsoft and Playground Games teams have been able to deploy patches on a rapid basis for Forza Horizon 5, and it seems to be the stability of the online multiplayer experience that is the main focus at present. We’ll keep you updated with each subsequent slew of fixes.
