New Assetto Corsa Competizione console DLC packs announced

Assetto Corsa Competizione’s much-anticipated v1.8 console update is set to be released tomorrow (29th September 2022), but ahead of its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S debut, publisher 505 Games has revealed two new DLC packs will be available before the end of the year.

As promised in a blog post back in May, 505 Games – alongside the Italian development team responsible for porting Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) to consoles, Untold Games – aimed to deliver v1.8 to consoles by the end of September. Future console DLC hinged on the game’s update to v1.8 thanks to its heavily revised physics engine and tyre model.

With that promise looking to be fulfilled in 24 hours, 505’s latest blog post also indicated that it plans to release both the Challengers Pack and American Track Pack DLCs on the 10th of November. This will add five cars and three tracks to the console version of ACC.

We reviewed both DLC packs for PC, saying that “the Challengers Pack update offers great value for five very distinct and enjoyable cars”. We also described the American Track Pack as “an essential purchase” for ACC fans – even though Watkins Glen was perhaps the only real stand-out circuit.

In terms of pricing, the PC versions came in at £9.99 and £14.99 for the Challengers Pack and American Track Pack respectively, which we felt was excellent value considering the pricing policy of sims such as iRacing. However, console DLC prices have yet to be announced.

However, it must be noted that the DLC packs will only be available for the ninth generation of console – excluding PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ACC players. Development on these versions was cancelled and there are no plans to reverse this decision.
