National trust: GT Sport Daily Races, w/c 20th December 2021

When I think of Britain, I think of National Trust stately homes, cups of tea, Marmite and a bespoke sports car. All very Downton Abbey.

And this week’s GT Sport online Daily Races encapsulate the mood, as one of the events is driving an Aston Martin around the lauded Goodwood Motor Circuit. Tally-ho

This 2005-2017-era Aston Martin Vantage you shall be at the helm of around the ex-military airfield will be a future classic – of that, there is no doubt. Its minimalist lines, manual gearbox and thundering V8 or V12 power options shall remain timeless.

Long live the Vantage, long live Goodwood, end of overly patriotic ramble.

Here’s the Gran Turismo Sport menu for the week commencing 20th December 2021.

GT Sport online Daily Races 20th December 2021

Don’t let the beguiling nature of Race A catch you unawares. The Aston-Goodwood combination may seem gentile at first, but a 12-car grid in identical cars will mean you’ll have to pick your fights wisely. This venue doesn’t have many clear overtaking opportunities. One single move may take several laps to execute. Work your way up to it and stay tight around St.Mary’s.

Race B is Mount Panorama, recently holding the Bathurst 1000, in any Gr.4 car of choice. We’re going for the Mustang in a matching livery to The Great Race, but other options are available.

For example, may we suggest that you continue the British theme by entering the Aston Martin? Or, alternatively, the straight-line speed of the VW Scirocco Gr.4 will hold you in good stead.

GT Sport Gran Turismo Bathurst

The longer race this week is at the C II variant of Circuit de Sainte-Croix, a layout that caught us unaware. One of the weaker fictional GT layouts in recent times, it’s so instantly forgettable that the opening sector had us a little flummoxed.

Due to its lengthy format, only six laps in this race for the 2-minute duration – we hope we can re-learn the track by the end of our first attempt!
