New Driving Academy tests added in Euro Truck Simulator 2’s v1.55 update

After a period in open beta, Euro Truck Simulator 2’s v1.55 update is available to download now on PC.

Fresh from announcing its Iceland DLC and exciting new ‘Project Coaches’ mode for the game, developer SCS Software has introduced several new features to its highly popular delivery game.

We’ve outlined the most important aspects below.

Driving Academy: Truck Proficiency Module

The headline feature of v1.55 is the new ‘Truck Driving Proficiency’ module for the game’s Driving Academy mode.

This adds a series of far more challenging driving missions to ETS 2, with a tiered list of rewards available for fulfilling the most difficult test criteria. Drivers need to follow the prescribed route and avoid making collisions to get the highest scores.

There are no tutorial videos, though, so players will need to rely on their Driving Academy-honed skills to complete the job.

FH Tuning Pack DLC update

An update to the FH Tuning Pack DLC now incorporates the Volvo FH Series 6 truck, allowing players to customise every Volvo FH Series truck in-game.

Players can now pick chromed versions of the front badge plate, rear fender top, front mask, and front grille bottom, with the decal, windshield frame, front badge plate, rear fender and rear fender top all now paintable.

Asynchronous loading

An asynchronous loading feature has now been implemented in ETS 2, ensuring game assets are continuously loaded ahead of time to prevent game freezing and stuttering.

Custom City Intros for the Vive la France! DLC

21 cities have been given the custom city intro treatment in v1.55, adding cinematic opening screens based on the player’s starting city. This is applicable to owners of the Vive la France! DLC only. 

Visual updates and quality of life changes

The graphics settings menu gains handy screenshots to demonstrate visual options in action, while a ‘my location’ hotkey snaps to your location instantly on the game map.

A new Steam achievements system has also been implemented for v1.55, with changes made to some existing in-game challenges. The full changelog for v1.55 can be found below.
