Following a brief delay, the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO is now available for iRacing members.

It marks the demise of the aged MP4-12C, the British manufacturer’s first foray into the popular racing category now being categorised as legacy content. It has long been superseded in the real world, first by the 650S, then the 720S and now the 720S EVO.

For those who already own the Ron Dennis-era sportscar for the platform, compensation in the form of iRacing credits may be coming your way. The deal is dependent on how long ago you added the model to your roster:

  • 0-90 days = 100% price compensation
  • 91-180 days = 75% price compensation
  • 181-365 days = 50% price compensation
  • 366+ days = no compensation

As with the rest of the GT3 category, the 720S Evo can be used in the rain and as part of AI races.

The mid-engined racer was initially announced for a Season 4, 4th September, release date but was delayed “pending final approval from McLaren” according to the subscription-based sim racing service.

A Season 4 Patch 1 update has also rolled out, which includes the consolidation of trackside cats at Cadwell Park, BMW M4 GT4 sound tweaks and the removal of a bump at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps’s Chicane.
