Authentic Simulation’s Portugal Openworld Project, which aims to bring 1,000 km of Portuguese roads to Assetto Corsa, has officially begun fundraising via Kickstarter today (1st November 2024).
Development began in the summer of 2023, with the modding team having already built over 142 km of roads, including countless trackside objects and other ambient details. They used readily available LiDAR and aerial data to ensure accuracy to the real-world Praia do Guincho landscape.
Authentic Simulation plans to introduce touge and off-road sections using AC’s Custom Shaders Patch’s advanced dirt physics, taking advantage of the title’s popularity with the virtual drift and cruise community. Furthermore, the studio plans to bring the project to Assetto Corsa EVO at some point in the future.
Authentic Simulation also plans to introduce more ‘game’ elements to Kunos Simualzioni’s sim, with Express Courier and Traffic Rush modes offering a unique slant on standard AC free-roam environments.
Express Courier sees players tasked with meeting tight delivery deadlines from point A to point B, while Traffic Rush is a little more hectic, with players having to avoid other road users while driving at speed, gaining points in the process.
Although the initial Kickstarter target is $10,000, further stretch goals reveal Authentic Simulations’ bold ambitions, with a goal of $1 million enough for the team to begin work on its own racing game for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Reward tiers range from $15 to $1,000, with several customised objects unlocked in-game for higher tiers; including ad banners and customised houses on the map, with the whole project slated to finish in the Autumn of 2025.
