Modding team Authentic Simulation has revealed ambitious plans to complete its Portugal Openworld Project for Assetto Corsa
Currently in beta, the third-party project aims to bring a vast swathe of Portugal’s roads to the popular sim, equating to 500 km of virtual highways and byways.Â
The Portugal Openworld Project has been in progress for around 15 months, with an impressive amount of countryside and asphalt already mapped out, totalling around 120km.
Authentic Simulation plans to introduce touge and off-road sections using the Custom Shaders Patch’s advanced dirt physics, all the while using readily available LiDAR and aerial data to ensure accuracy.
A Kickstarter for the project will be unveiled in the near future with a goal of $50,000 to help accelerate the POP’s development by bringing in additional artists, with the map geared towards popular ‘traffic server’ users. Indeed, Authentic Simulation plans to set up a heavy traffic server that will eventually be available to all backers.
The project will be completed regardless of the funding raised, but numerous perks will be included for early backers, including virtual property ownership on the map, personalised objects and real-world driving experiences in Portugal.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the progress of this huge AC mod when the Kickstarter campaign drops in the next few weeks.
