New cars, new tracks and platform updates are expected for iRacing’s upcoming Season 4 launch. These, plus a lengthy progress report on future content, have been provided by iRacing recently – but what about changes to the Tempest weather system?
Well, functionally, it is set to include a ‘spotty’ option, where conditions ‘might’ happen – more random, useful when setting up a custom forecast.
But, also, deep within the details, further cars will receive the option of fitting wet tyres meaning they can now be driven in inclement conditions.
The six new additions are:
- Audi RS3 TCR
- Honda Civic Type R TCR
- Hyundai Elantra TCR
- Hyundai Veloster TC
- Renault Clio R.S. V
- Ford FR500S
They will join 27 rain-enabled cars, bolstering the line-up to 33 – although, we expect the newly available BMW M4 G82 GT4 and McLaren 720S GT3 Evo to also be compatible. That should mean 35 cars come next month.
The new Tempest-suitable cars were confirmed by iRacing’s Senior Vice President and Executive Producer Greg Hill on the forum before the main August development post was later updated.
Other anticipated changes during Season 4 include tweaks to the split system, dirt surfaces and car visibility during qualifying in replay mode. The update and fresh content are expected in early September.
