Just before qualifying for the Porsche Tag Hauer Esports Supercup finale at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza on Saturday, it was announced that the Porsche 911 GT3 R would be joining the iRacing service in the upcoming Season 3 build scheduled for June 2021.
The announcement came live from the Porsche Experience Center at the Hockenheimring in between the All Star event and the Season 3 finale. This new 911 GT3 R joins the current Porsche family on iRacing that includes the 919 LMP1, 911 RSR, 911 GT3 Cup, and 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
The service currently includes seven other active GT3 vehicles including the Audi R8, BMW M4 Prototype, Ferrari 488, Ford GT, Lamborghini Huracán EVO, McLaren MP4-12C, and Mercedes AMG. All of those vehicles were recently added to the iRacing AI during the Season 2 build.
The Porsche 911 GT3 R that will be added to the service debuted in the 2019 race season. The new-to-iRacing real-life counterpart vehicle features a sequential six-speed constant-mesh gearbox with a maximum of 550hp depending on the Balance of Performance (BoP) restrictor required by the FIA.
This Porsche has seen successes in international endurance racing at Bathurst and Spa, and also in the states in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series recently at Sebring.
If there’s any indication from previous vehicles on the menu at iRacing, it would be expected that the new Porsche will drop in at $11.95 USD or £8.64 GBP.
Usually during iRacing season builds, multiple pieces of content are either added or updated, so stay tuned to Traxion for more Season 3 updates as they become available.
