It’s the feature many Le Mans Ultimate players have been looking forward to most, and it’s finally here: the game’s first official driver swap races.
Taking place over the weekend, the six-hour race at Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit has six time slots available, and it doesn’t need a RaceControl Pro or Pro+ subscription to enter.

How to enter Le Mans Ultimate’s driver swap races.
To enter one of the races, you will first need to become part of a team of at least two drivers (make sure to give both drivers the role of ‘driver’; otherwise, you won’t be able to make a successful swap).
Now you have a team, you can enter your team into one of the assigned races by heading to the ‘Special Events’ tab in the ‘Online’ menu. Select ‘Enter Team’ and you will be able to pick a lineup to enter your chosen race.
You will be automatically sorted into splits based on the overall driver and safety rating of the drivers in your team. You and your team’s drivers will then receive a notification on the main menu when your chosen race session has begun, so it’s then a simple case of clicking this and you’ll join the race server. All of the team’s drivers can join the server at this stage.
How to perform a driver swap in Le Mans Ultimate
To perform a driver swap in Le Mans Ultimate, the player driving the car simply has to select the name of the driver they wish to take over the car in the ‘Pitstop’ section of the MFD, as shown below.

The player who is taking over will be notified when the current driver has requested a pitstop: they don’t need to do anything other than be present on the server.
Once the first player has boxed, a notice will appear on each player’s screen showing a countdown to the handover. (shown below) Once this descends to zero, the driver swap is complete, and the incoming driver has full control of the car. And that’s it!

Le Mans Ultimate’s driver swaps: known issues
There are some issues to be aware of with Le Mans Ultimate’s driver swaps, however. The replay mode doesn’t work perfectly, the HUD doesn’t display correctly when spectating and it’s currently not possible for those assigned as ‘Engineers’ to alter the pit strategy mid-race.
However, these issues will hopefully be ironed out over time.
