Milestone revealed on Tuesday (11th April) that Hot Wheels Unleashed is now statistically their most successful game in the studio’s history. More than two million copies of the game have been sold and more than eight million players are registered across the Xbox and PlayStation subscription service platforms.
The Arcade racing title is something special, for sure, especially in today’s current economy of racing game titles. It was one of our higher-rated reviews when it released, and Traxion.GG even named it as one of the best racing games of 2021 later on.
Milestone’s portfolio of games also includes franchises such as MotoGP, Monster Energy Supercross and other bike-related racing games. Back in 2021, Milestone collaborated with Mattel and brought Hot Wheels Unleashed into the world. Almost immediately, the game was considered a success by the developer, citing that it had become profitable in just two days after launch.

Other statistics revealed in the news include that there’s been over a cumulative 900 years in game time among all players of the title since its launch, plus more than a million custom liveries made and shared alongside about 350,000 user-created tracks. The data also shows that the Twin Mill 2021 car is the most used car of all included in the game.
Hot Wheels Unleashed is available to purchase and own on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam and on the Nintendo Switch, the base game usually found at $49.99.
