Following last week’s delay announcement, Rockstar Games has released a second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI. It offers our first glimpse at the open-world crime game since the first trailer dropped in December 2023, with a closer look at the story, setting, characters and vehicles.

As you would expect for a big-budget game in development for over a decade, it looks spectacular.

The new trailer, captured on PS5, reintroduces us to the game’s leading protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, who return to a life of crime after the latter is released from prison. Naturally, this will lead to intense heists, shootouts and plenty of high-speed police chases.

As with previous games, there are no licensed vehicles, but they will closely resemble real-world models. At the start of a trailer, a modified pickup with a grille resembling a Ford F-150 pulls up. Even the badging looks similar, revealing Vapid as the manufacturer – GTA 6’s equivalent of Ford.

Another shot shows a row of luxury cars parked on the street resembling a Lamborghini Aventador, Mercedes C-Class and Porsche 918 Cayman. In some cases, the styling cues look eerily close to their real-world inspirations.

Other vehicles spotted in the trailer include a cop car resembling a Ford Police Interceptor and a rcoupe utility that looks like a rusty Ford Ranchero, which appears to be Jason’s main car. The first trailer also confirmed that the Ferrari Testarossa-inspired Cheetah will return from Vice City.

GTA 6 will be set in a modern-day Vice City, with the last trailer suggesting that social media and influencers will be a key focus.

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them,” the trailer description reads.

“But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Grand Theft Auto VI release date

Originally slated for an autumn/fall 2025 release, Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 26th May, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC release has yet to be confirmed, but GTA games usually get PC ports after the initial console release.
