Gran Turismo World Series Nations and Manufacturers Cup Exhibition returns

With the main World Series championship’s World Finals line-up locked down ahead of the recent Showdown, there’s now a new Exhibition series to tide Gran Turismo 7 drivers over until the new year.
Gran Turismo World Series Nations and Manufacturers Cup Exhibition returns

Beginning 16th September 2023, Exhibition Series versions of the Nations Cup and Manufacturers Cup will return within Gran Turismo 7.

While the main World Series, which ultimately determines the champions, already has its World Finals line-up complete, this Exhibition Series provides something to fill the time between August’s Amsterdam Showdown and the Barcelona finale in December.

Open to everyone with Gran Turismo 7, there is a set schedule of events and on each date, a handful of times you can enter each round – unlike the Daily Races which are available across seven days and change each Monday. These races are typically significantly longer and more challenging than the regular Sport Mode events too, providing the pinnacle of what the game has to offer in terms of damage, weather and strategy options.

To be announced…

The full schedules are below, and of note, the last race in the Nations Cup is still a mystery.

“Event details for Round 5 will be announced separately once confirmed,” reads the Gran Turismo website.

Intriguing. Historically, this is a hint that some form of new content could be used – although that is yet to be confirmed, clearly.

Across the other four Nations Cups rounds, highlights include a Gr.1 car race at Le Mans across a maximum of 17 laps (if you’re ranked in the GT1 league, eight laps for GT2 and GT3) and the use of the giant oval Special Stage Route X. Round 2 replicates the recent Nations Cup Showdown final with the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 Competition and Autodrome Lago Maggiore.

Heavy Damage

For those competing in the GT1 league of both the Nations and Manufacturers events, not only are there longer races, but heavy mechanical damage is enabled. A visit to the pitlane is required to shake off any ailments.

Similar to Round 2 of the Nations Cup replicating a Showdown event, the opening round of the Manufacturers Exhibition Series puts you in Gr.3 cars with potentially changeable conditions at Suzuka. During the Dutch event, this was an enthralling watch, as the rain was localised to just one section of the track.

Unlike the Nations Cup, the format for all five rounds is public, with a highlighting including a 10 (or three) lap race around the Nürburgring 24h layout.

The final major point of note is that presumably due to the longer race lengths, those in GT1 only have three time slots for each event, whereas GT2 and GT3 have 10.
