Gran Turismo 7 developer Polyphony Digital has had a well-earned break from publishing game updates during the festive period, but it will restart next week with four new cars.
Series Producer Kanzunori Yamauchi has shared on social media the customary shadowed teaser image, this time depicting the outline of four vehicles.
What could they be? Well, two are certain, having been unveiled during December’s 2024 Gran Turismo World Series World Finals. The other two are less clear, but the Traxion team’s best guesses are below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
Long teased, and even used during the aforementioned World Finals for a qualifying race, Hyundai’s electric wonder is hitting Gran Turismo 7 this month.
The tuned crossover vehicle has lots of instant torque and twin-motor grip off the line for searing acceleration – but so do so many other performance electric cars.

Where the 5 N is so different is in the combination of fake engine sounds (including pops and bangs), adaptable driving modes (including drift) and synthesised gearshifts. The latter makes the car more engaging than ‘regular’ BEVs and helps assist with track driving.
However, it’s not clear if the game will replicate this feature with a ‘MT’ option – it would make sense, although it looked to be absent at the Dutch event last December…
Gran Turismo F3500-A
“More race cars, please,” so says some Gran Turismo 7 players each time there’s a new update.
Well, if you were after contemporary machines, your request has gone unanswered again. BUT – a 1990s-themed, high-revving V12 open-wheeler should be epic.

That’s what the Gran Turismo F3500-A is, and we can’t wait to enjoy the wings and slicks combination. It certainly made for stunning racing last month…
1980s Honda Civic

Right, this is where it gets tricky, the car at the very back of the teaser image.
Initial hype within the team was the Volvo 850 T5-R, especially due to the long and flat-looking roof line and protruding bumper.
However, upon reflection, we think it’s more like an early Honda Civic derivative.
The raspy early ‘90s EG generation was added in the May 2024 1.48 update, which is currently the oldest Civic in the game.
So, this seems earlier, and that means either third or fourth generation. The exact specification is also a guess, but both had hot models, Si and SiR respectively.
Toyota CH-R

Again, the Traxion team immediately jumped to a rare-groove European estate car, in the form of the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA.
But, we can’t have nice things, and this seems to be more likely the first generation Toyota CH-R hybrid SUV. Deep joy…
Gran Turismo 7 January 2025 Update release date
