With Gran Turismo 7’s July 1.61 update comes five new engine swap combinations to be purchased from the GT Auto area (if you are at Collector Level 50).
Alongside the three new cars – Honda N-ONE RS ’22, Nismo R34 GT-R Z-tune ’05 and Nissan Qashqai e-Power ‘22 – existing models now have the option of switching out their powerplants for something a bit more exciting.
Of the latest pick-and-mix options, two really stand out. The max-attack Isle of Man record-holding Subaru Impreza can now be fitted with the bonkers turbo V8, with over 1,000bhp seen in the BRZ drift car.

On track, the swapped Impreza isn’t totally crazy, as the all-wheel-drive and track-honed suspension can just about handle it. There’s more front-end push, and you’ll rip through the stock gear ratios extraordinarily quickly.
Then there’s the Clio V6. As a mid-engine two-seat French hatchback, it’s already weird enough. Now, you can add a Subaru rally car engine, the first time this lump can be fitted to something outside of the Japanese brand.
This makes for a very strange experience, hearing the distinct flat-4 burble from a Renault is like hearing the voice of Alan Partridge emanating from Sydney Sweeney.

Elsewhere, the Gr.4 racing Lancer can now be swapped with the ubiquitous R35 GT-R engine, the 2JZ can be added to the Toyota 86 (alongside the current option of an LT5 Corvette V8) and the ST205 Celica receives its first option of a giant V8 from the Lexus SC430 (a car model that isn’t in the game).
The details of these latest additions are listed below, including power and pricing. We also have a guide to the new cosmetic customisation items, too.
