Yes, it’s true, a new GT3 car piece of agricultural machinery is on the way to Gran Turismo 7 in the February 2025 update.
Version 1.56 will place the Mercedes-Benz Unimog in the eclectic driving video game’s roster, as predicted.
But, that’s not all, so here are the most significant changes heading to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on Thursday 27th February.
Three new ‘cars’
- BMW Z4 3.0i ’03 – Brand Central and Used Cars – 60,000 credits (44,600 credits used)
- Mercedes-Benz Unimog Type 411 ’62 – Legend Cars – 46,000 credits
- Peugeot 205 GTI ’88 (1.9) – Used Cars – 61,000 credits
Well, not three cars, but two cars and a vehicle.
The heavy machinery comes in the form of a 1962 Unimog, which is much older than originally theorised.
This is a tall off-road machine, designed in this instance primarily for off-road and farm work.

According to Mercedes-Benz, this Type 411 featured “greater performance” than the older 401/402 series. It has a ginormous… 30 bhp. We expect this to be the slowest car in Gran Turismo 7, and wonder what happens when a vehicle with such a high centre of gravity is tuned…

Something much lower to the ground is the first generation BWM Z4, seen here with the silky-smooth 3-litre straight six engine. Not the M Roadster, but it should be easily tweaked and display exemplary rear-wheel-drive handling characteristics.
The same can’t be true of the Peugeot 205 GTI – its resolutely front-wheel drive. In period, a 1.6-litre or 1.9-litre engine could be purchased. We think this is the 1.9, by dint of the part leather seats.

This is the first time the venerated French hot hatch has been in Gran Turismo – the mid-engine Group B homologation special Turbo 16 and WRC machine itself has, the latter is even in GT7, but this is the debut for the GTI.
Collection: Peugeot
It’s time for yet another Extra Menu at the Café, which simply means owning three specific cars and then picking up a reward.

This time, the conditions are the following:
- Peugeot 205 GTI ’88
- Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 ’86
- Peugeot 908 HDi FAP ’10
Owning all three will net you a prize: A five-star roulette ticket
Three single-player race events
Another trip of fresh World Circuits events will be part of the update, with the rewards detailed upon launch.
Usually, these are themed around the cars added to the update – although in this case, we’re pretty sure the Unimog isn’t really for racing…
- Sunday Cup Classic – Red Bull Ring Short Track
- European Sunday Cup 400 – Grand Valley – South Reverse
- European FR Challenge 550 – Autodrome Lago Maggiore – East
GT Sophy trickle continues
At this point, it feels like the AI agent, GT Sophy, can work across all tracks (for PS5 players), but we just await another handful of compatible venues each month. Keeps each update feeling bigger than perhaps it is…
Anyway, you can now race against the super-human artificial intelligence at:
- Autodromo Nazionale Monza
- Sardegna – Road Track – B

Curated ‘Panning’ Scapes collection
Another feature that expands as slowly as a dripping tap is the photography Scapes mode. This time, a collection of scenes ideal for panned shots (moving the camera in time with the car, plus using a slower shutter speed to blur the background) will be featured.
Oh, and how could we forget: The racing Gr.4 Mazda 3 can now be purchased with a grey base colour…
Engine Swaps
Six new engine swaps are available, and of note, the Escort Cosworth and diesel Mazda Demio (2) can be fitted with different motors. It’s the rally engine from the Gr.B Focus in the Ford and you can ditch the oil burner in the Mazda for a Mitsubishi Evo rally car engine.
- Ford Escort RS Cosworth ’92 – Ford Focus Gr.B engine
- Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth ’87 – Ford Focus Gr.B engine
- Mazda Demio XD Touring ’15 – Mitsubishi Evo Gr.B engine
- Subaru Impreza 22B-STi Version ’98 – EJ20 Impreza Rally engine
- Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX Type R STi Version VI ’99 – EJ20 Impreza Rally engine
- Suzuki Swift Sport ’17 – Suzuki Gr.3 V8
Lap Time Challenge
A new Online Time Trial goes live every Thursday anyway, but on the day a new update is also released, it tends to be themed around the latest content.
The same is true this time, with the new BMW Z4 and the Sardegna Road Track B layout. Set a time within the top 3 % and earn 2 million credits two weeks from now.
