Weissach-based car manufacturer Porsche has today (21st September 2022) revealed its Porsche Vision Gran Turismo car will be gaining a roof-less version – and it will be added to Gran Turismo 7 this month.
The virtual Porsche Vision GT was created specifically for Gran Turismo 7 (GT7), with a real-world show car also produced and displayed at the recent Gamescom convention with an artistic twist.
With its quirkily hinged clamshell roof and all-electric powertrain, the Vision GT owed a lot of its DNA to Porsche’s Taycan electric super saloon.
There are also design and engineering hints from its Mission R project, the retired 919 Hybrid race car and the 918 road car (part of the ‘Holy Trinity’ of motoring, also including the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari).
However, from first impressions the only differences between the Vision GT Spyder and Vision GT are the absence of a roof and windscreen, evoking low-drag 24 Hours of Le Mans prototype cars of the 1950s (or the more up-to-date Ferrari Monza SP1 and McLaren Elva road cars).
