Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 4 has broken its concurrent players record on Steam over the weekend, with a gargantuan 75,689 people enjoying its quintessentially British take on the Horizon formula.
Originally released in September 2018, Horizon 4 is seen as the series’ zenith by many gamers, with players able to drive around an abridged version of the North of England and Scotland. The title introduced gameplay-changing seasons to the series, with some genuinely novel missions complemented by an excellent multiplayer experience.
Last week, however, it was announced that the game would soon be delisted, meaning players would not be able to purchase digital copies after the 15th of December 2024, with an official statement revealing the decision was due to “licencing and agreements with our partners” (likely to mean licensing deals with car manufacturers are expiring, but this has not been confirmed).
The bump in Steam numbers can be partly attributed to the publicity surrounding Horizon 4’s delisting but this has been supplemented by the base game and all its DLC packs enjoying huge discounts in Steam’s Summer Sale, which runs from the 27th of June to 11th of July.
The base game is currently priced at £10.99 / $11.99, with Deluxe and Ultimate – which includes every DLC pack – coming in at just £13.99 / $15.99 and £16.99 / $19.99 respectively – the lowest price in the game’s history.
If you’re interested in buying this highly-rated racing title then we’d suggest now is a very good time to do so!
