The Ferrari Velas Esports Series will return in 2022, but this year, the participants will be competing on both Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione. On top of that, North American sim racers can get in on their own regional competition that will run parallel alongside the returning European regional contest.
Further details of the returning series were announced on Tuesday (22nd March 2022) during a livestream launch event on the Ferrari Esports Twitch channel.
To enter, hot lap pre-qualifying competitions start on 4th April and go until 6th September. There will be eight unique circuits to lap on throughout either simulation platform.
The top 24 qualifiers per region for each will move on to a qualifying race, and the Top 3 finishers in each qualifying race will advance to the Regional Finals.
24 North American drivers and 24 European drivers will then race in two events in the regional finals, one race on AC and the other on ACC.
The Top 3 overall in each region will then qualify for the Grand Finale, where all finalists will be flown to Italy to determine the overall champion. That champion will then have the opportunity to become a part of the official Scuderia Ferrari Velas Esports Team.
For the original Assetto Corsa events, racers will utilize the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo. In the Assetto Corsa Competizione races, the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 will be the chariot of choice – which is available as of the 23rd March as part of the Challengers Pack.
The Regional Finals will take place on 13th and 14th September. The Grand Finale will take place on the 2nd of October.
Registration is open now over on the Ferrari Esports website. The competition rules do state that you need to be older than 18 years of age. Will you be giving the Ferrari Velas Esports Series a go this season? Let us know about it down in the comments.
