EA SPORTS F1 24 has launched straight to near the top of sales charts, resigned in third overall for European PlayStation 5 players last month.
The May 2024 charts reveal that within the EU region, F1 24 was only outside on PS5 by Sea of Thieves and the perennial performer Grand Theft Auto V.
It outsold fellow recent sports release TopSpin 2K25 (tennis) and basketball juggernaut NBA 2K24. Fellow driving games Gran Turismo 7 and The Crew Motorfest were 18th and 20th respectively.
While Europeans lapped up the single-seater racing action, the licenced F1 title failed to register in the top 20 for the United States of America/Canada region. This is despite the sport’s owners Liberty Media pushing the region extensively, with four races this season in the area.
Last-gen sales notable only by their absence
While the PS5 sales were strong, F1 24 did not register in the top 20 for PlayStation 4 sales for either Europe or the US/Canada.
Exact sales data was not published by Sony, however, this dramatic chart listing difference could hint towards the cessation of cross-generational releases.
