EA Sports 23 is set for a reveal, of sorts, as fictional outfit Konnersport Racing Team is set to unveil ‘its’ 2023 car on Friday 28th 2023 at 4 pm BST / 5 pm CEST / 8 am PDT / 11 am EDT.
The full title of the yellow-themed squad is Konnersport Butler Global Racing Team, hinting at something related to Devon Butler – F1 2019’s and F1 2021’s antagonist in the story-based gameplay elements.
Butler was expanded upon with a significant role in 2021’s Braking Point narrative mode, which is set to return to F1 23 as the game series’ Senior Creative Director Lee Mather discussed with Traxion.GG last year.
“In 2019, we did the F2 feeder series, which was the cinematic game opening. Then, obviously, F1 2021 had Braking Point, and you saw the scale of Braking Point compared to what we did with F1 2019’s intro, it’s vast,” highlighted Mather.
“It’s something that takes a very long time to put together. There’s a lot of time in the casting, there’s a lot of time in creating the scenes.
“So, [two years] is a cadence that I think we’re comfortable with. It gives us the opportunity to obviously change our focus year on year.”
Of note, only real-world teams were used within Braking Point, with fictional teams being created by players for the My Team managerial mode. Therefore, we’re hopeful for more details to clarify where Konnersport fits within the latest official Formula 1 driving title tomorrow.
