Following the launch of The Contractor Episode 1 in November 2021 – part of The Crew 2’s Motorflix series – Episode 2 live today (19th January 2022) and features an overlanding theme.
For the uninitiated, overlanding is using an off-road vehicle, not to try and challenge yourself through the steepest inclines or muddiest fields, but to slowly explore the world and camp in remote locations.
The Contractor Episode 2
The Contractor Episode 2 takes off-roaders with chunky tyres, protective gear, winches and roof-racks, and turns up the wick. You’ll be blasting across the remote areas of the map – over 5,000km² in size – to complete missions for fictional animal protectors US Wildlife Watchers.
If they are anything like Episode 1, these mission structures will be based around some simple fetch-quests that allow you to try new vehicle additions.
As ever, these new missions are free to all, alongside two new cars: the Chevrolet SILVERADO 1500 Intrepid Outdoors (Rally Raid) and the Ariel ATOM (Street Race).
New Motorpass tiers, Season 4 Episode 2
Alongside the new challenges, you can earn XP, helping to unlock Motorpass tiers, which in turn will unlock new vanity items and vehicles.
There is an optional Premium Motorpass level for 80,000 Crew Credits. Currently, a pack of 100,000 costs £7.99/$9.99 and you will also receive up to 40,000 CC back to spend in-game on other items as bonuses through a Motorpass season. It will instantly unlock 12 tiers, including new vehicles and further vanity items.
Should you make it to Tier 49 of the free Motorpass, then you will unlock the all-new Creators Hunter 51 overlanding van.
If you purchase the premium Motorpass, the Outclassed Edition of the Koenigsegg Gemera will be instantly yours. Then, you can unlock a Land Rover Defender Works V8 Intrepid Outdoors edition at Tier 13 and a special Hummer H1 Alpha US Wildlife Watchers edition at Tier 33.
LIVE Summit updates
As with every major update for The Crew 2, new LIVE Summits will be available in the game. A LIVE Summit is a series of events where you compete for online leaderboard supremacy. At the end of each Summit, you will be awarded prizes based upon your overall finishing position.
The first new addition also begins today, 19th January 2022, with Misty Mountains – an off-road-themed series of challenges.
In amongst these new LIVE Summits is a Premium Summit called Year of the Tiger, available from the 26th January 2022.
Should you complete it to the Platinum standard, the Jaguar C-X75 Concept Lunar Year Edition will be yours.
Once again, another substantial update for The Crew 2. Originally released back in June 2018, Ubsioft Ivory Tower’s open-world car MMO was the sixth best-selling PlayStation 4 game in Europe last year. Staggering.
