End times: GT Sport Daily Races w/c 17th January 2022

We’re now just seven sets of GT Sport Daily Races, including this week’s, until the release of Gran Turismo 7 on Friday 4th March 2022.

This game’s ranked online Sport Mode will most likely continue after the release of the latest Polyphony Digital racer, but all attention will undoubtedly move across to the new game.

That’s why I’m counting down the days to the release of the new game now. The racing in GT Sport remains as brilliant as ever, but the car and track combinations are, by now, stale. I’ll still be racing in some of the scheduled online events, but I’m more excited knowing that there are just 45 sleeps until you know what…

Race A this week takes the delectable Mazda RX-7 Spirit (not ‘Sprint’, easy mistake to make) R and places it on Best Motoring’s favourite test track – Tsukuba.

Narrow, slow and bumpy, it’s as if this rotary-powered sportscar was designed with this venue in mind. Keep those RPMs high, trail brake into the first corner and you’ll be set for a good result.

The shortest Autodrome Lago Maggiore layout – Centre II – plays host to the Gr.4 cars this week for a touring-car style race. Slower-speed racing cars on tight tracks, a recipe for fun in my book.

As it happens, it looks like the front-wheel-drive Renault Sport Megane is the quickest vehicle around here too.

To round out the week’s playlist, Race C is at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, and in the typically Eifel style, it’s raining.

The wet track means car selection is less of a factor – keeping it on the island will be the main priority!

Full details of each race are below, and the playlist will next reset on Monday 24th January 2022. If you’re interested in games created by Polyphony Digital, we recently went back and re-visited Tourist Trophy and found it still holds up remarkably well.
