Revealed at the recent ADAC SimRacing Expo, motion systems expert D-BOX and hydraulic sim racing pedal set creators SIMTAG have teamed up to deliver the world’s first haptic feedback brake pedal set.
The unique setup has been FIA licenced and is designed so drivers can feel ABS feedback through the pedal for the first time, along with any behaviour that can be mapped from the software and telemetry such as worn brake parts.
D-BOX – purveyors of whole-body feedback systems, such as the one used recently by Louise Cook – has put its existing haptic coding process to use here, interlinking motions, vibrations and textures with the aim of delivering realistic brake pedal feedback.
At the show, the new equipment was paired with a full-motion SIMTAG rig using 1.5inch D-BOX actuators and currently works with Assetto Corsa and iRacing.
D-BOX has also announced that all future Nürburgring eSports Sim Racing Centers – run by Adrenalin GmbH – will be equipped with D-BOX actuators.
“We really believe in this concept of Sim Racing Centers. As vaccines roll out around the world, restrictions lift and entertainment complexes reopen gradually, it appears that people are willing to pay for an experience they could not get after a year stuck at home,” declared Yannick Gemme, Vice President, Sales of D-BOX.
