Crazy Taxi-inspired Taxi Chaos 2 out now on PS5, physical release announced

While we’re still waiting for news on Sega’s Crazy Taxi reboot announced in 2023, a new chaotic taxi driving game has made its way onto PC and consoles.

Following its release on PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch last December, Taxi Chaos 2 has now launched digitally on PlayStation 5.

Developed by Focuspoint Studios, the sequel to the 2021 taxi racer takes Crazy Taxi’s formula of delivering passengers to their destinations within tight time limits and mixes it with a futuristic setting with autonomous ‘TaxiBots.’ As you deliver fares, these rival AI cars will chase and attempt to take you out, becoming increasingly aggressive in later chapters.

Adding to the challenge is a city that evolves with roadworks and other obstacles that block your route. To overcome these obstacles, your taxi can be equipped with upgrades that allow you to access shortcuts or attack TaxiBots. A story mode features objectives to complete during timed shifts alongside a traditional arcade mode.

Publisher Curveball Games has also confirmed that Taxi Chaos 2 will be released physically on PS5 and Switch in the spring, with pre-orders now live at selected retailers.

“As an ardent fan of arcade racers, so prevalent in the glory days of the arcade, Taxi Chaos 2 was a project we at Curveball Games enthusiastically raced to deliver for lovers of physical media,” said CCO of Curveball Games. We are delighted to bring this fast, super-sharp action arcade racer to PlayStation 5 and Switch gamers later this year”.

Traxion is currently reviewing the PS5 version and will deliver our verdict on the arcade taxi racer soon.
