During the gameplay reveal of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown in the TDU Connect premiere (12th July), it was announced that a Closed Beta for the title has been scheduled for three days this summer, starting on the 24th of July.
This comes alongside the revelation by the developers at NACON and KT Racing that the future title has been pushed back to release as soon as early 2024. That means that it will be nearly four years since the game was revealed by name in a NACON Connect event back in 2020.
As for the Closed Beta for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, it will be limited to “certain lucky players” and will require hopeful players to subscribe to the Test Drive Unlimited newsletter via the game’s website.
What the Beta will entail, whether it will be the same slice shown off in the TDU Connect or something else, remains to be seen. It will last a scant three days.
Solar Crown is set on the island of Hong Kong, a 1:1 scale recreation of the area has been modelled by the team. Players will take on the challenges ahead as either a Street or Sharp member, the two opposing clans of the title. Online multiplayer, either in races, or traversing in groups across the map is a significant gameplay focus.
Now delayed to 2024, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is due to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and on PC. Will you be trying to score a Beta Key?
