CarX Street’s tyres are still warm on PlayStation 5, having launched on Sony’s platform a few weeks ago. However, a new entry in the long-running CarX series is just around the corner, with the upcoming release of CarX Drift Racing Online 2.
Following its announcement in March, a new trailer gives us a first look at the next CarX Drift game in action.
The trailer previews a variety of locations you’ll be burning rubber in, from race tracks to tight Japanese mountain roads, as well as the enhanced graphics and driving physics. Several locations are laser-scanned, including Ebisu Circuit, the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Dominion Raceway and ADM Raceway in Russia.

When you inevitably make a mistake, the car deformation looks impressive and appears to be an evolution of the extensive damage model seen in the CarX Drift Racing 3 mobile game.
According to the developer, CarX Drift Racing Online 2 will feature a “real competition format” with a judging system inspired by modern drift championships. As you compete in the world drift series, you’ll progress from a beginner to a professional drifter. Online modes range from head-to-head duels to tyre-smoking gymkhana events.
As with most CarX games, there is also an emphasis on customisation. Everything from the suspension to the gearbox, ECU can be tuned upgraded, although none of the cars are licensed.
There’s no release date yet, but CarX Drift Racing Online 2 is set to launch on Steam Early Access in Q4 2025, with console versions to follow. It marks the first CarX Drift Racing Online game since the original in 2017. The initial PC release was later ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2020 and Nintendo Switch in 2021.
