Nearly one year after the PC release, the open-world street racer CarX Street has finally hit PlayStation 5. The PlayStation port follows last month’s Xbox Series X|S release.
It’s been a long road to release on consoles, with CarX Street originally launching on mobiles back in September 2022, before the PC arrived in August 2024.
Comparable to Need for Speed, CarX Street centres on illegal street racing in the fictional Sunset City, an open world filled with twisty mountain roads, highways and urban streets to explore.

While there are no licensed cars, the vehicles pay homage to real-life models such as the Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Nissan Skyline GT-R.
As with most CarX games, the customisation options are extensive. A detailed car-building system allows you to upgrade engines, transmissions, suspensions and tyres, or add aftermarket parts such as sideskirts and spoilers.
