The relentless development of SCS Software’s American Truck Simulator (ATS) and Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS 2) titles continues apace as the Czech studio drip feeds more teasers regarding their respective games’ Oklahoma and West Balkans DLC packs.

This time round, both content updates focus on a water theme, with the developer showcasing the rivers, lakes and dams set to be included in ATS’ Oklahoma DLC and the bridges of ETS 2’s West Balkans update.

American Truck Simulator Oklahoma DLC: rivers, lakes and dams

Oklahoma has over 78,000 miles of rivers and waterways, with its two biggest – the Arkansas and Red River – set to heavily feature in ATS’ latest DLC pack.

The Red River, named after its reddish-brown hue thanks to sedimentary deposits, acts as a natural border between Texas and Oklahoma and is remarkably salty in composition owing to ancient sea beds dotted along its course.

Like the Red River, the Arkansas is a major tributary of the Mississippi River, negotiating the states of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas along its 1,469-mile length. And what do rivers feed? Lakes! And ATS’ Oklahoma DLC will feature both Lake Eufaula and Lake Texoma; the largest and second largest lakes in Oklahoma respectively.

And, of course, many lakes are either natural or man-made reservoirs, so expect to see more than a few dams across the wide expanses of Oklahoma in future, contributing to the state’s hydroelectric infrastructure and surrounding industries.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 West Balkans DLC: bridges

We’ve previously highlighted the oil industry and its inclusion in ETS 2’s West Balkans DLC, but this time round we’re focusing in on its road architecture: bridges.

Although it’s had a troubled past, SCS rightly highlights that the bridges of the West Balkans represent a symbolic connection between people and places, with the Franjo Tuđman, Pelješac and Krka Bridges Croatia representing a modern, forward-thinking stance for Croatia and the region as a whole.

Continuing the watery theme, ETS 2 players can expect to cross the scenic Rijeka Dubrovačka coastal inlet, the Krka River and the Tara River on their travels, all the while enjoying the region’s spectacularly diverse landscape.

American Truck Simulator’s Oklahoma DLC and Euro Truck Simulator 2’s West Balkans DLC are both available to Wishlist on Steam now, with pricing and a release date unconfirmed at this stage.
