With the hype surrounding Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) and American Truck Simulator’s (ATS) v1.47 updates finally dying down, SCS Software has retrained its focus on plans for its next batch of truck sim additions.
For ETS2, that means building on the Germany Rework project and polishing the forthcoming West Balkans DLC content update, as well as adding a whole new industry to the game.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 Germany Rework
While Germany received some love in the recent v1.47 update, SCS plans to further improve its cities in v1.48 at no extra cost to players.
From the outset, the Czech developer has chosen to highlight changes to the strategically important city of Travemünde, with its Baltic coastline providing ideal transport links between Scandinavia, Germany and the former Eastern Bloc countries.
Although best known as a seaside tourist destination near Hamburg, in ETS2 Travemünde is simply a port destination with no option to explore. SCS has rebuilt Travemünde from the ground up, allowing players the luxury of travelling through the city as well as adding a ferry on which to cross the Pötenitzer Wiek body of water.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 West Balkans DLC Oil Wells
The West Balkans DLC – which many thought would be available with the v1.47 update – is still in the advanced stages of development as proven by SCS showcasing a new industry coming to ETS2.
Focused on Albania, oil wells are set to appear in the game, acting as a base for delivery contracts and featuring all-new assets as well as a fresh depot.
The oil well, based in the city of Fier, is a conduit for other deliveries too, necessitating players to make further trips to oil refineries and storage facilities (and drop off the obligatory load of pallets).
SCS promises more oil well appearances in the West Balkans DLC, with a release date yet to be announced.
