RaceRoom sets new record during free-to-play promotion

Longstanding sim racing title RaceRoom Racing Experience is feeling particularly buoyant presently, off the back of increased player numbers.

It recently ran a free-to-play promotion from mid-July to mid-August, which enabled anyone with a PC to test out the premium DLC for no charge.

This included contemporary DTM (GT3) machinery alongside the likes of 1990s Super Touring vehicles on any circuit.

“We had a free-to-play period from July to August where players opened 5.5 million sessions, and we had 260,000 players coming onto our platform,” said Christian Baur, RaceRoom’s Director of Sales and Strategy, to Traxion.

So that’s a quarter of a million unique players across one month, who opened 5.5 million sessions – a session being actions such as time trial, AI racing or multiplayer.

RaceRoom estimates this was around 100,000 more players than in the same month last year.

It followed up the completely free promotion with its Summer Sale, with all cars, tracks and packs heavily discounted by 50%

Next month, it is set to launch its first-ever LMDh race cars, a heavily updated graphics engine and an all-new built-in online multiplayer ranking system to take on the likes of iRacing and Le Mans Ultimate.

It may be over 12 years old, but RaceRoom is fighting back in 2025.
